WHANAU

Kereama:

We just got back from our Great Aunty’s tangi (Arohanui Aunty Mattie, pomarie) and were talking about how much everyone in the family has grown/changed/multiplied. My sister said “Yeah it’s 50 shades of brown!” (and then let me turn it into a comic).  Before last week, it had been too long since I was up the coast – but as always, once I arrived, it seemed like only yesterday. I love my giant, multi-coloured family and its 50 shades of everything!

  1. Love it. You are surrounded by a crowd of strangers but its all ok because you know that they are family and it doesn’t matter who you are or where you live or what you do you’re instantly a part of that crowd because they are family. Where in the world can you get that feeling. So lucky to be a part of a much bigger picture. It’s so authentic, as my teenage son loves to say. Can’t wait to share that with my children. Love your comics! Love Hemi!

  2. 50 shades of fabulous too. I love our whanau and how it’s so big that no matter where you go there’s usually an Aunty, uncle or cousin to help make you feel like you’re home even if you’re miles away. 🙂
